Janna Jihad is a Palestinian activist and journalist who gained international recognition for her reporting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Born in 2006, she began reporting at a very young age, using her smartphone to document events in her hometown of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank. She started journalism because of the nature of her early childhood background growing up in Nabi Saleh. The village she grew up in is very popular because of its frequent protests against resisting Israeli occupation and the encroachment of Israeli settlements.

Although she experienced tough times and danger, she continues to push forward by recording the various events and sharing her viewpoint with the world.

She has narrowed down her documentation to highlight the consequences of the conflict on children, underscoring issues such as arrests, traumas, and deaths among Palestinian youth.

Work History

Using her videos and social media, she strives to increase awareness about the challenges faced by children dwelling under occupation and to strengthen their voices.

Aside from journalism, Janna also takes an active part in activism and advocacy for Palestinian rights. Janna has been hosted and also spoken at international events, taken part in protests, and utilized her voice to call for a stop to the occupation and for justice for Palestinians.

Despite her youth, this bold young lady’s contributions to the field of journalism have received international attention. Furthermore, at such a tender age, her work continues to inspire others to reject all forms of injustice and intimidation.

Her films and social media posts provide a firsthand view of what it’s like to live under occupation, highlighting concerns including protests, conflicts, and human rights violations. For shedding light on the situation in Palestine, she earned the nickname “the youngest journalist in the world.”

Her voice and documentation attracted attention to the plight of Palestinian children and got backing for their cause around the world, making her a symbol of opposition and strength.
